Opera during lockdown

The public health measures taken to slow down the Covid-19 pandemic have had a devastating effect on millions of businesses and community organisations, and hundreds of millions of people. For many reasons, opera houses may be among those that find it hardest to overcome the difficulties. Today, all three music partners in the Traction project are closed and it is impossible to know when or how they might be able to perform again. Many people will think this a second order problem, and in some ways it is, but a business struggling or a job lost is equally devastating in every sector of the economy. In the present uncertainty, one can only admire the 142 Liceu artists who have applied their creativity to making this inspiring film – a musical love letter to the people and city of Barcelona:
